Here is a fantastic looking, playing and sounding 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard.
I purchased this Burst from the original owner’s family many years ago, and it has remained here locally, in a private collection. This ’58 Burst has been completely uncirculated, until now.
This guitar is 100% factory original! It is a winter of ‘58 Burst that remains in excellent condition. The color is as vibrant as the day it left Kalamazoo over 60 years ago.
58′s are by no small margin the lowest production number year for Sunburst Les Pauls (200 approx.) and you will be hard pressed to find another in its original state and color at this price point.
It has zero cracks, finish work or repairs of any kind and shows perfectly under a black light.
This Burst has light figuring primarily down the center and displays a nice amount of movement in hand; it is truly a wonderful example.
The factory original frets are in excellent condition, as is the Brazilian rosewood fretboard; there are no divots and it has extremely light play wear overall.
The neck has a very easy to bond with round, medium profile that is very comfortable. The nut is original and retains the lacquer over the edges. It plays effortlessly and rings true all the way up the fretboard.
The head stock has not been reamed or modified in any way, even the tuner tips remain original on this one.
The pickguard, pickup rings, switch tip and knobs are original and in excellent condition.
The unopened PAFs read at 8.05 (neck) and 7.85 (bridge); they are original to this guitar. The pots, 3-way switch and wiring are original to this guitar as well. All solder joints appear original and untouched.
All hardware (tuners, bridge, stoptail, strap buttons, and jack) again appear to be original and are in exceptional condition with zero tarnish; this one is a time capsule.
This Burst is very lightweight and super resonant at 8.4 lbs.
Overall, the condition of this 100% factory original Les Paul Standard is an 8.5.
There is a small area of darkening/discoloration on the lower bout that has been factored into the price.
Excellent condition, original brown “Cali Girl” case is included.
