1963 Gibson ES-335 Sunburst Video Part 1 1963 Gibson ES-335 Sunburst Video Part 2 1963 Gibson ES-335 Sunburst Video Part 3

This is a special example of a fantastic looking, playing and sounding Gibson ES 335, lightly played, in all original condition from 1963. It has the desirable larger, round neck.

This all-original Gibson ES 335 (SN# 100899) in excellent, 9+ condition is just as it left the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI in 1963.  It has no cracks, finish work or repairs. The original finish shows perfectly under a blacklight. The body finish shows very slight weather checking and is in a very clean, extremely lightly played condition. The finish is in good condition on the back of the neck with one area of missing finish about the size of a dime around the 10th fret on the bass side. The factory original frets are in excellent condition as well as the Brazilian rosewood fretboard with pearloid, trapezoid markers. There are no divots or excessive play wear. The neck is the more desirable and comfortable rounder, fatter neck shape (compared to the thinner, smaller neck style) and plays extremely well. It has the feel of the 1959 style neck, compared to a ’60 or ’61. The nut is original and retains the lacquer over the edges. It has no issues and rings clear and open on all strings. The headstock has not been reamed or modified to accommodate any other types of tuners. The pickguard, pickup rings, switch tip and knobs appear to be correct and original to this guitar. They are in very good to excellent condition. All pickups, pickup covers, pots, the 3-way switch and wiring are original to this guitar. All solder joints appear original and untouched. The original patent number pickups read 7.6 (neck) and 7.8 (bridge). All hardware (tuners, bridge, strap buttons, and jack) appear as well to be original to this instrument. The guitar weighs 8.0 lbs. The original black pebble-grain case is in good condition. (Missing only the padding on the handle).

Currently, all pre-’65 Gibson 335s have become more desirable and collectable; more people are using them and more people are buying them. This 335 is a collector grade example that plays extremely well.
