Built in Kalamazoo, Mi, this 1946 Gibson Southern Jumbo is a fantastic post-war example of a very sought after Gibson acoustic model. The Southern Jumbo boasted an X-braced Sitka spruce top, mahogany back, sides and a 14-fret neck with Brazilian rosewood fretboard and pearl, dual parallelogram inlays. The neck carve is a medium/ full C feel. Nut width is 1 and 11/16th”, String spacing is 2 and 1/8th” and the scale length is 24 and 7/8th”.

The condition of this instrument is excellent with a new saddle (original in the case) the tuner buttons appear to have been replaced (as the originals were crumbling) and lastly there is a small crack in the middle of the back. These golden-era models are extremely well known and much sought after live and recording guitars for their warm, full and articulate sound across almost any genre of music, this Southern Jumbo is an excellent and relatively untouched original from a much sought after period in Gibson’s history.
