Vintage rockabilly firepower from Gretsch’s golden age.
Introduced in the mid-1950s, the Jet Firebird quickly established itself as one of Gretsch’s most stylish and sonically versatile solidbody electrics. With its sleek single-cutaway design, chambered mahogany body, and fiery red finish, it embodied the bold look and sound of the rock ’n’ roll era.
This 1957 Gretsch Jet Firebird 6131 (Serial #22795) is a wonderful example, remaining in all-original condition with the only exception being a professional neck reset—a common and often necessary service for Gretsch guitars of this era, ensuring perfect playability for decades to come. Also included is its original excellent condition case.
While it currently sports a later Gretsch replacement bridge it comes with its original Melita bridge and its dual DeArmond pickups deliver the unmistakable Gretsch tone: clear, articulate highs, woody midrange punch, and a raw, dynamic response that cuts through a mix while retaining warmth and character. Plug it in, and it’s instantly ready for anything from twangy rockabilly lines to snarling blues and early rock riffs.
With its iconic looks, superb feel, and legendary sound, this Jet Firebird isn’t just a piece of vintage gear—it’s a stage-ready slice of 1950s history, as inspiring today as it was nearly 70 years ago.
