An exceptionally rare Martin Custom Shop prototype, this OM-45 Roy Rogers is
Prototype #2 of only four instruments built in 2005, created as part of Martin’s
tribute to Roy Rogers and the original 1930 OM-45 Deluxe. Built in Nazareth, PA, this
example features East Indian rosewood back and sides with a premium spruce top,
paired with Style 45 abalone appointments and vintage-inspired construction
throughout.

This prototype run represents the earliest stage of the modern Roy Rogers OM-45
project—far rarer than the production edition and seldom seen on the market, with
only four total examples existing. Built with classic OM proportions and pre-war
inspired detailing, it delivers the ornate “Style 45” visual package with the refined
balance and responsiveness the OM platform is known for.

Prototype #2 retains all original Martin Custom Shop appointments, with no
production standardization typical of later runs. Highly collectible both as a limited
prototype instrument and a Martin archive-level build, this guitar sits in the upper
tier of modern Martin rarities.
