Alexander Dumble’s amplifiers are widely regarded as the pinnacle of tone and
craftsmanship. Each unit was hand-built or individually modified to the player’s

as well as a trusted partner in documenting and preserving his legacy.
This 1968 Fender Bassman (S/N A42955) was modified by Howard Alexander
Dumble with tone stack changes that distinctly revoice its two channels. It is in excellent condition.
The Bass channel is configured for greater headroom and a more pedal-friendly response,
while the Normal channel is voiced for a more aggressive, higher-gain sound when
pushed. The amplifier is housed in a Mathers head cabinet with Vox-style grille cloth
and a reproduction black-panel faceplate, and the rear of the chassis has two
plugged holes. With two distinctly voiced channels and Dumble’s unmistakable
approach to amplifier design, this is a unique and highly versatile example of his
modification work. It is in excellent condition.
