This is a very rare, early example of Alexander Dumble’s many legendary models. This 1971 Dumble Winterland Bass Amplifier was an early incarnation of the later Dumbleland models. The Winterland bass delivers massive amounts of clean power via four 6550 tubes running at 200 watts. It is believed that no more than 3 Winterland Bass Amplifiers were ever made.
The layout of this amplifier has: two inputs, a single volume control, bright switch, Treble and Middle controls, deep switch, Bass control, an “accent” switch and finally a “damping” control. The amplifier is operated via standard Standby, On/Off, and a Ground switch. The head is accompanied by two original, matching Dumble 1×15 cabinets with Altec speakers. As with all the Winterland and most Dumble builds, each amplifier received the time, attention and voicing of a prototype. Dumble Amplifiers are inherently rare. This particular Winterland Bass example is almost never seen as so few exist. Coupled with the matching, ultra-rare 1×15 Dumble Altec cabinets, this is truly a significant example of Dumble history. The sound is spectacularly remarkable, articulate and massive, and like all Dumble amplifiers, this sounds incredible for guitar when used as guitar amplifier.
